This gay wedding took place in the home of Frank Sinatra in Palm Springs, California. Enjoy their sweet love story and the beautiful images from Derek Chad Photography.

From the Photographer: I absolutely LOVE that these two tied the knot at the Frank Sinatra Estate in Palm Springs, California. Such a sweet and intimate spot to exchange vows. Erik & Mike are more than a handsome couple of grooms, they are also genuine nice guys. I loved hearing all the kind words from their friends and family and I am so honored to have been their photographer. Congratulations guys! Thank you for choosing me to document your incredible day! Here are some questions answered by the grooms before their big day.

How did you two meet? Erik and I were both the heads of our gay groups in college. We went to the Models of Pride conference at Occidental College and – though the conference was just ok – we did end up seeing each other. The big feature of the conference was a dance at the end – everyone looked forward to it. Erik and I met in the dinner line and started talking. We talked through dinner. Then after dinner. Then through the dance. Our friends finally had to drag us apart from so we could drive our separate ways home. We chatted that night on AOL (!) and went on a date the next week. A lot of our friends cherish our love story as it’s a classic boy meets boy scenario. A lot of my friends use gay dating sites in the hope of being just as happy as us.

Who proposed? What was your proposal like? We’ve been together 15 years, so this is more of a celebration of our time together than a traditional wedding. TBH, I don’t even remember the proposal, but there definitely was no one-knee and YouTube worthy moment of surprise.

Why did you choose your venue(s)? We love Palm Springs and wanted to do something unique to the city and that kind of built it’s own theme. The Frank Sinatra house sounded like a classy and fun venue, and that we could stay there on top of it is fantastic. Are any of the details particularly special to you and why? Palm Springs was a place Erik and I used to visit a lot when we were first dating, and it is where his grandparents lived (before we met), so it is special to both of us. I think it exemplifies California and the west, and I love the idea of palm trees and mountains around us.

What are you looking forward to the most about your wedding day? Definitely having all our friends from both the East coast and West coast come together, as well as family. Although both my parents have passed away, my 3 sisters, brother, their spouses, 2 nieces and 2 nephews will also be there, along with Erik’s mom, dad, and brother. I really just want everyone to have a great time together, and celebrate.
